A tour to slowly discover the territory of the rolling Morenic Hills, located in the immediate hinterland south of Lake Garda.
The route winds along secondary roads with little traffic with views surrounded by olive groves and vineyards.
Surrounded by greenery rise the Pieve di Santa Giustina and the Palazzolo Tower with bells ringing in the small village at the stroke of every hour.
Pedaling, admiring, but also meeting, discovering and tasting!
The tour unites several businesses: the Farm of Castellani Matteo, a small space full of scents and flavors that offers wine tastings and homemade products.
At El Bacan you experience the pleasures of the countryside and the friendliness of the owners, you can’t miss a taste of honey from Azienda Agricola Lonardi, a break with fresh, natural ice cream from Agrigelateria Manzati, and finally in the Sara Delicatessen store, tradition and taste come together to create products that contain all the goodness of the place.
The perfect place to buy an alternative souvenir!
The tour runs on roads with little traffic and generally gentle ascents/descents.
We recommend caution on the descent from the small village of Palazzolo to the “El Bacan” farm and the stretch between Sandrà and Palazzolo, where there may be some car traffic.
After reaching El Bacan one can simplify the return. The options are:
→ Go up again to the Palazzolo Church ( both ascent and descent will be very steep).
→ Continue on Via Isonzo toward the Pieve di S. Giustina.
Peculiar little church, nestled in greenery on a small hillock. Rebuilt after the 1117 earthquake on the ruins of an earlier church, the parish church has valuable frescoes inside ( the oldest date back to the year 1000!) Surrounded by the bell tower and cemetery, it was the place where the bishop of Verona, San Zeno, came to celebrate mass and evangelize. The association La Torre di Palazzolo takes care of the parish church! Guided tours are organized from March to November on these two days: - the first Saturday of the month at 4 p.m. - every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. During the summer season, concerts and poetry evenings are organized inside!
Thirteenth-century tower, built by the lords of Verona “Della Scala,” reached in the beautiful center of Palazzolo. Seventeen meters high, crenellated, with nine bells and two clocks. To this day its bells are still rung by the village's group of bell ringers.
Matteo is the enthusiastic owner of this winery, located in Rotti di Bussolengo, which carries on the family business that began a good 100 years ago. In addition to exploiting the methods and traditions handed down from his grandparents, Matteo also tries to innovate and think about the environment, of maintaining quality products.
The farm with Lino, Ernesto, Carla, Andrea and Michele, who for several generations have been transforming agricultural products from their land into products such as jams, compotes, nectars, mustards.... and more!
Ideal especially for summer, Manzati offers a wide selection of artisanal ice creams - and it doesn't end there! Next to the typical ice cream store you can find the outlet of typical products of their territory!
