Training, relaxation, team spirit: Nicolò shares his experience of the sports retreat in Gabanel

When you think of a sports retreat for cycling teams, you imagine long days of intense training, challenging climbs and moments of competition between teammates. But a retreat is also much more than that: it is an opportunity to strengthen bonds, recharge your batteries and enjoy an immersive experience in close contact with nature.

Nicolò Birello, an athlete from the Arvedi Cycling team, who chose Gabanel Bike Hostel for a winter training camp, tells us about his experience.

‘It was a very positive experience, even though we stayed there during the winter and couldn’t take full advantage of all the services offered.’
The team spent several days here, finding it an ideal environment to focus on training and enjoy everyday life as a group in a welcoming and familiar setting.

What struck Nicolò most was the atmosphere at Gabanel: ‘I was impressed by the order, attention to detail and cleanliness of the place. You can see that behind every corner there is passion and attention for those who choose to stay here.’

During the training camp, the athletes were able to train on truly unique routes: ‘They were exceptional, to say the least, with climbs of all kinds and long flat stretches along Lake Garda. The variety allows you to prepare yourself in the best possible way, both technically and physically.’

And once off the bike? Not just rest, but also conviviality and relaxation: ‘In my free time, I would walk around the grounds or we would get together to play some of the board games provided. These were precious moments to recharge our batteries and share thoughts and strategies.’

Would you recommend Gabanel as a home for sports retreats to other teams? Why?

‘Absolutely. I would recommend it for its convenience, proximity to spectacular trails and the opportunity to enjoy an experience that goes beyond simple training.’
