A scenic tour and more!
You’ll depart from Gabanel and immediately join the bicycle path that follows the course of the Adige River. As you pedal, it will be impossible not to let your gaze linger on the landscape painted with mountains, valleys, and small villages that follow one after another.
A first stop in the village of Volargne where you can admire the beauty of Villa del Bene, the so-called “pearl of Val D’Adige.” Continuing with Ceraino and Dolcè. Treat yourself to a few minutes for a walk in the small village of Dolcè, its main street is surrounded by ancient courtyards with splendid inner courtyards, here the Baricentro will give you the right energy to set off again with the staff’s advice and their sweet pastries.
Resume the bike path towards Peri, crossing the bridge you’ll be treated to a taste of the fine wines of the Valley. Be careful not to overdo it, we know that the wines from Cantina Val D’Adige will make you dream!
From here begins the return journey, you’ll reach the village of Rivoli with its fort built during the first war of independence (we recommend stopping for a visit, it’s usually closed but you might be lucky). Here to welcome you for a substantial break will be Michele from Bistrò del Giglio with his homely kindness. We note that at this point it is possible to recharge electric bicycles.
And now all that’s left is to descend until you reach Gabanel again, enjoy your bike ride!
We recommend taking this tour with an electric bike, but if you are well-trained or enjoy adventurous routes, this is perfect for you!
It runs mostly on protected bike paths. Pay attention to the following points, which are on busy roads:
There will be some hills but they’re not too steep. Check that you have strong brakes to handle the descent from Rivoli on the bike path about 200m after leaving the village.
In the municipality of Dolcè, in the hamlet of Ceraino, there are the remains of an Austrian fortress on the Adige River, built to control goods and collect customs duties. It was a strategic point due to the narrowing of the valley overlooking the river, and for centuries it was a battleground for this very reason.
A symbolic location in Rivoli Veronese and gateway to Verona from the Val d'Adige, Forte Rivoli is undoubtedly the best known of the numerous forts surrounding the area. Standing at 227 metres above sea level on the heights of Monte Castello, it offers the perfect backdrop, visible from every point of the compass.
The Villa del Bene property complex is located in the province of Verona, in the historic centre of the hamlet of Volargne, on the banks of the Adige River.
The villa, which consists of several buildings constructed in the fifteenth century and completed by 1560, hosted numerous prelates participating in the Council of Trent, as well as nobles and illustrious figures of the Venetian Republic.
The municipality of Dolcè is located in the
eastern part of the Val d'Adige,
bordered on its western edge by the
Adige River, extending to the
border with the province of Trento.
In the past, it was the first Italian territory
encountered on the road
leading from Brenner to Verona.
La Bottega Dal Gilio was founded in 1962 in Rivoli Veronese within the walls of the social cooperative by Gilio and his wife Irma. It was a classic village grocery store, which at the time was the only supplier of foodstuffs for the villagers.
Today, the typical village shop has evolved into a bistro where you can enjoy local products, a wide range of gourmet sandwiches, home-style cooking with traditional Veronese dishes, local wines and craft beers.
