Kissed by the gentle wind of the Custoza Hills with the scent of the vineyards making the whole atmosphere more charming, you will feel as if you were cycling in a postcard!
Along the route you will be able to admire different landscapes.
Starting from the countryside of Bussolengo, you can approach the hinterland of Lake Garda passing through the village of Colà.
In this first stage it is impossible to give up the sweetness of honey from Morati beekeeping.
Continuing on, there is no shortage of wineries where you can enjoy a good glass of wine, along with the excellent products the area offers, La Pesenata, Corte Fornello and Azienda Agricola Gorgo will be happy to welcome you!
Pedal, pedal but then you also need to refresh yourself, and what better than an ice cream at Corte Vittoria, a small deviation of the route but an experience that will not disappoint.
On this tour you go up and down, at a slow or fast pace, away from the noise of the city among the sounds of nature, history and art of small villages.
The route is mostly flat except for two climbs, not long but steep, before and after Custoza.
The first starts from Santa Lucia di Valeggio and arrives in Custoza, the other starts from the center of Custoza and arrives at the Ossuary, from which there is a wide view of the surrounding hills, Mount Baldo, Lessinia, and Mount Carega.
Some of the drinking fountains on the route are marked in the trail. However, not all of them are always working and, especially in the winter period, many are closed.
As a variant, we recommend slightly lengthening the route to reach Valeggio sul Mincio and the charming village of Borghetto
Located atop Custoza and visible from all over the territory, the Ossuary is a monument of great historical value. It preserves the remains of soldiers fighting in the battles of the Italian Risorgimento of 1848 against Austria. Visitable from Tuesday to Sunday, it is the ideal destination for history lovers!
The Scaliger Castle, from the top of the hill on which it stands, dominates Valeggio and the entire Mincio valley, retaining the evocative grandeur of its 14th-century medieval fortifications.
All that remains of its oldest part, almost completely razed to the ground by the 1117 earthquake, is the Torre Tonda, a unique horseshoe-shaped construction from the 10th century that, together with three others, formed a trapezoidal-shaped fortification, adapted to the morphology of the land. The part that can currently be visited was originally called the “Rocca”
